What I never accounted for.

When anything less than tremendous loss felt like nothing at all.

You live your life assuming safety. Then, one day, you stop assuming.

I was telling a friend about how one of the moms I know was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. “Was it the axe?” she asked.

“How brave are you?"

I want you to know this story because I now wrestle with the fact that it's over.

There is a safety in knowing what’s coming next and a silencing fear of failure in trying something new.

These moments intensify my gratitude for the passing of time.
